When still a young girl, Hanna Carlson received classical singing lessons. Alongside Mozart’s “Magic Flute”, over many years old Ella Fitzgerald records offered another training, as Hanna attempted to follow the sounds with her ear and her voice. This music, and Fitzgerald’s free and creative use of the voice has fascinated her more and more since then, with a hold that does not diminish. So from 2005 – 2009 she studied Jazz and Pop Singing at the “Hogeschool voor De Kunsten” in Arnhem, and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Her teachers were, among others, Ineke van Doorn and Lina Nyberg. Since 2009 Hanna Carlson has lived and worked in Göttingen, performing in various groups on numerous stages through Germany and the world.

Studied and received a Master’s Degree at the “New School” and The “Drummers Collective” in New York City. Since this time he has also written and arranged music. With this background, he influences and enriches his bands with his musical creativity and work as both a performer on percussion and as a composer and bandleader. He is also involved in theater and radioplays.
Bernd Nawothnig has played in different jazz ensembles with Alan Skidmore, Wayne Darling, Christina Braga and Marion Brown. With Marion Brown he recorded two CD´s, “EchosOf Blue” and “Native Land”. With the “Bernd Nawothnig Quartet” he has won several jazz prizes. Bernd Nawothnig is a multi-faceted musician with a traditional and modern background.

Martin Tschoepe studied double bass and electric bass at the “Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien” in Hannover and the “Hochschule für Musik” in Würzburg with Detlev Baier, Ede Brumund Rüther, Lars Hansen und Rudi Engel. Tschoepe has been heard with artists such as Jens Dohle, Michael Wollny, Hans Peter Salentin and the singer Corinna Stapf. His primary musical influences include Dieter Ilg and the classical double bassist Christian Hellwich.
This virtuoso bassist has always looked for musical inspiration in diverse musical directions. This interest helps him create a unique musical language, which finds its centre in Jazz, but goes far beyond it. Tschoepe composes and writes for his bands, orchestras and musical productions. Since 2001 he has lived and worked in Göttingen, after living in Scotland for a while.
The pianist and composer Maximilian Mäckel was born in the northern part of Hessen (Germany). His first piano teacher was his grandmother . He started playing the piano at the age of 5. Since than he has always been looking for new challenges in music.
As a student at the “Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien” in Hannover he was taught by Prof. Markus Groh and Simon Nabatov. He took part at master classes of Kenny Werner, Hyperactive Kid and David Liebman.
2009 he won the „Kassler Kunstpreis“ with his Band „Blue Break“.
Mäckel played a.o. at „Jazz an der Donau“, Bohemian Jazz Festival“ and the „Kassler Schauspielhaus“. Since 2014 he forms part of the „Hanna Carlson Band“.
